Role: As Head of Art for Disney Studios I was tasked with coming up with a design system for our social assets. Working with creatives in design and motion, we drew inspiration from trailers, key art and the narrative to have each movie tell a compelling story on social as well.
Impact: Built up following for social pages in SG, MY, TH, VN and PH, identified latest social features and trends to integrate in the visual guide, maintained brand guidelines and platform specifications for each asset, ensured localisation and a relevant TOV for different markets in APAC.
The future of Wakanda
We aim to visually celebrate the future of Wakanda by weaving in the two elements that define it the most - its traditions and technology.
Coming out of a period of mourning
As new threats and challenges arise in Wakanda’s path after the loss of T’challa, we showcased the nation’s resilience by having key typography elements emerge from the shadows. Our color palette is also muted and stately with black and chrome used primarily.
Tradition meets Technology
To celebrate this forward-thinking nation we used sleek, minimalist Afro-futuristic cues together with traditional tribal patterns set in motion in a chrome overlay reminisce of Vibranium - the nation’s greatest resource.
space viking journey with an 80s revival twist
For older fans, the 80’s are a nostalgic period. For younger audiences, it’s an exciting, retro and fantastical era - full of fun and escapism. We had something for everyone with a dash of nostalgia to hint at the midlife crisis Thor faced in his journey.
galaxy of possibilities
The galaxy is an uncharted territory similar to the journey Doctor Strange must take through the multiverse. We represented the endless possibilities of the Multiverse with endless combinations of chaotic patterns.
Multiversal Dimensions
Drawing in inspiration from the unique elements present in the galactic world such as swirls, wormholes and cosmic dust we bring the thrill of experiencing different universes while ensuring no two visuals are the same, similar to the many dimensions of the Multiverse.
Fragmented Typography
We bring in the elements of the worlds breaking apart seen in the movie by adding motion to create fragmented type for certain headings.
an epic space adventure
Inspired by Buzz’s space adventures and self-discovery in becoming a hero, our visual world has elements of hi-tech gadgets, tech and spaceships to immerse our audiences, so they can experience what it means to become a hero in an adventure of their own.
Building Blocks
We picked elements from Lightyear’s spaceship controls and created buttons and frames to accentuate our social content. We housed interactive elements such as polls, stickers, sliders inside these buttons to give the audience a sense of control similar to operating a spaceship.
